White Lane's around The Tarenig Forest, Wales

This is a route we have been meaning to try out for some time, not sure if its a right of way. They go near the windfarms and there could be a chance they are tracks made by the Forestry Commission.

XT600e

XT600e (4TP) 2003

The only modification is the Acerbis 23ltr fuel tank.
282 miles is the most I have done before refilling with 21.5ltrs of fuel.
Easy enough to fit, I got mine from David Lambeth. (Just google him)

Twist grip throttle fitted to Quad... then emergency Tyre repair on Claverley byway

Twist grip throttle fitted for long distance riding!
After stopping for a quick chat on the new throttle test run Muddy Puddle noticed a funny looking item stick out of the off side rear tyre of the X8 Quad.

Crazy the sort of stuff you can pick up on a byway!
Remember, always be prepared!!!
Both 4 inch points went into the tyre creating two holes
Captain Badger as it sorted though... always prepared!!

What the law says...

We take what we do very seriously and always make sure we are on a public right of way.

A44 to A488 (Llanfihangel Rhydithon to New Radnor) Monster Byway. On top of the mountains

Incredible BOAT route stumbled upon on the way back home.
It was a lot longer than we imagined... a hell of a lot longer; but awesome!
You can't really see the fantastic view with my shoddy camera but trust me, its breath taking travelling across the spine of the mountains.

XT600 New Tank and Fork Suspension oil - Elan Valley test ride

New 23ltr petrol tank and new fork oil fitted today.
First trip out for Muddy Puddle to Nannerth Byway near Elan Valley village, 158 miles to test out the new front suspension.
Verdict: Much better!

Video: Cider House Byway near A458

Muddy Puddles first ride out on the XT600e to see how she handles compared to the XT660z Tenere.
Verdict:
A lot more capable off road and it being 40kgs lighter feels more powerful at lower revs.
Not bad for a 12 year old machine.

Sunday 13th September expedition to Nant Y Moch, Mid Wales

Nant Y Moch 1st Byway from dam

Abandoned house off a Byway

Deep in the Valley

This is probably our most favorite place to come and explore it is near Nant Y Moch, Mid Wales.
There are literally dozens of trails to follow over the most beautiful background. You'd swear you were in another country... oh wait you are.
This is Wales.

Here is a little taster video of whats in store at Nant Y Moch.

You can drive and park very near where the Byways start and explore on Cycle or Foot, which most people do.
The trails are not that bad only a tractor can make it but there are sections that require extra attention.
A regular car wouldn't be a good idea unless you totally don't care about getting stuck and pulled out.

To give you an idea:
Captain Badgers X8 Qaud 'Sparta' was never put into 4x4 mode or even the suspension softened from the 100 mile ride there.
Muddy Puddles XT660z Tenere only had Dual sports tyres on 70% road, 30% off-road and at no point did the bike get stuck (except in a 2ft deep ford, rider error)

Monster Byway north access point (off Machynlleth mountain road to Dylife)

This monster byway heads south to Nant Y Moch. This will be a future expedition and will require all day to complete.

The XT600e 2003 (pictured above) 45bhp 600cc thumping air cooled single cylinder. £1500.

As seen at Cinema
You see Elijah Wood on a XT225 (the smaller version) bike racing up a mountain to get away from a 100ft tidle wave in the film Deep Impact 1998
Having ridden one now, I can see why they chose this bike.

BT/AT= before tenere/after tenere

This is what the XT600e replaced until someone saw fit to think I shouldn't have this bike and they should have it instead. RIP Tenere, may your brakes fail and kill the rider that stole you.

MAP Room (added periodically)

Here we will slowly start to document all the BOAT routes that we have been on and try to write  little about what to expect if you intend to try them out!
Good Luck and be safe!

This is a short video of a hidden disused service road that runs past the wind farms near Elan Valley.
